About the Unit

It was during a Wally Byam Caravan to Eastern Canada in 1955, that a group of Airstreamers organized the WBCCI. In Halifax, Nova Scotia, on 24 July 1955, the first Constitution & Bylaws were adopted at a meeting called by the president F.E. “Pop” Riley. The first membership meeting was subsequently held, on August 03, at Kentville, Nova Scotia.

The club now consists of 12 Regions and 174 Units located across the US, Canada and Mexico. The Quebec Unit was organized September 1, 1962 and included the Maritimes Provinces. The Canadian Atlantic Unit withdrew from the Quebec Unit and organized in Woodstock, NB at a gathering May 15-18, 1964.

At all International and Regional  functions where Regional and Unit flags are displayed, the first Unit flag to be presented is the Canadian Atlantic Unit.

The first Rally was held in Tatamagouche, NS in August 1964 with 14 Units of the 18 members Units in attendance.

The Canadian Atlantic Unit includes New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island and Newfoundland with members from as far as Hawaii…

The Canadian Atlantic Unit holds three or four rallies a year either in Nova Scotia, New Brunswick or Prince Edward Island. These rallies are usually planed around some special event or festival, taking place in the area when it is being held.

Ernie Wood was the first and only Canadian Atlantic member to be President of Region 1 in 1989/90.

In 2008 the Canadian Atlantic Unit wil co-host the Region 1 Rally in Prince Edward Island in August 17-23.
